Do you struggle to find reliable tradespeople?

Our client in Dorchester found us on Nextdoor. She was losing patience - she was only trying to find a reliable tradesperson to quote for a mini-makeover (refurbishment) in her "room of doom". It included some finishing tasks, repairs and a built-in loft cupboard. Not exactly rocket science is it - so why is it so difficult to find people who will actually turn up?!

She showed us a longggggg list of businesses who she had contacted, it ranged from one-man-band types, to limited companies, from long-established businesses, to sole traders, it even had a few "dave-from-down-the-pub" type of people on the list. The list was a whole sheet of A4 - there must have been at least 10 or 12 on the list!

Each and every one of them had given her typical "dog ate my homework" type of excuses and failed to turn up, or had turned up and then not got back to her with a quote. Others simply hadn't responded to her enquiry at all! The worst had made excuses after the quote appointment had already been missed...
Then she met the Upcycle Interiors Team!
👉She contacted us using our website contact form here 👉We emailed her and sent a txt message too in case it went to her junk folder.
👉A calendar was utilised and a site visit was scheduled! Hurrah! 👉Turned up on time (on the right day at the right time).
👉 Sent a quotation same day (did you know we send 94.2% of our quotes on the same day we visit you?)
👉Deposit received from client.
👉Date confirmed.
👉Materials procured, project organised, team mobilised.
👉UIL sent a team of 3 people.
👉Most of the work completed in one day.
👉1 of our team returned the following day to finish and tidy up.

A little more about the project: the ceiling had some movement cracks, as is normal in old buildings - movement can occur. We used a specialist flexible product and then skimmed over it ready for sanding, to "feather it in" (in other words to blend it in so its not noticeable). There were also some more substantial areas of lose plaster and holes that required filling and bonding plaster. This is a gritty rough "undercoat plaster" used for filling larger holes, with a few tips of the trade using this product can help to save time. The client had also requested a (studwork and plasterboard) new loft cupboard to be built - for storage. We also provided a quotation to paint the entire room, but the client opted to do this herself. We were more than happy to tackle the more major aspects of the work - working within her budget.

It was only a small refurbishment project, totalling 4 "man" days (we should really call this 4 "worker" days in this day and age shouldn't we?), but we hope you agree it was a good result.
If you're struggling to find reliable tradespeople then going ahead with UIL is the right decision!
1) Contact UIL here (or if you prefer - call our reception on 01305 584459 We guarantee to answer the phone and 97.6% of calls are answered within 3 rings!)
2) We will email you (and send a txt in case it goes to your junk)
3) Assuming it is the type of project we take on, we will schedule a calendar slot with you. We normally like to do site visits in the morning as it allows us to go back to the office and send your quote in the afternoon - on the same day.
4) You will receive a written quotation via email (and another automated txt in case it goes to your junk folder).
5) We request a small deposit, payable by bank transfer or credit card if you prefer.
6) You can consider it done.
It really is as simple as that!
