Our Dorchester client approached us via email regarding a traditional sash window repair after being let down by all the other local heritage compaines they had tried. We were more than happy to help!
Refurbishment and renovation is what we are all about, we love to upcycle, repair, conserve and maintain, especially when it comes to traditional sash windows and conservation!
When we arrived it didn't feel like the sash window was balanced properly. We took the sash out (which was hardwood, so extremely heavy) and despite there being lead weights present, in our experience it didn't look like enough weights for the size of the window. We pulled the cord down and the weight felt like it was hitting something inside the pocket - it wouldn't move very far. On further inspection another weight dropped down - It had been cut in half to fit inside the pocket! Therefore the window wasn't balanced properly, but after we had freed it up we joined then back together to prevent the same problem happening again. The cord was also trimmed shorter to stop it catching or snagging on anything inside the pocket.
All made good, caulked and tidy - and a very happy customer with a fully operational sash window
We carried out:
-removing the sash
-freeing up the weights and joined back together
-all made good, caulked and tidied
Our customer was overjoyed to have a fully operational sash window we were pleased to have been able to make it good once again.

"Have been trying to get the cords for a sash window redone for nearly a year now and was let down by local firms who didn't respond, or made an appointment and then didn't turn up. Upcycle Interiors replied to my email, gave me a quote, made an appointment, turned up on time, and did the job, sorting out what had gone wrong with the sash cords. I am very pleased indeed with the result and would recommend the firm highly.”
