Meet The Team - Personnel Manager Carla
Did you know that Upcycle Interiors Ltd has a 4th team member?
Carla, who is UIL's Personnel Manager, was actually the 2nd UIL employee, being one of the key driving forces behind the business.
She works tirelessly behind the scenes as a PA, taking on many day-to-day tasks and administration.
Her official team title is Personel Manager, but Carla is also involved in business development and provides consultancy services.
You'll see her car out and about in its "classic UIL silver grey" colour - adorned with the familiar Upcycle Interiors signage.
Upcycling an Oak Mantelpiece
As part of our company's 6th birthday celebrations, our team added some of these oak candle holders to our gift bags.
Each candle holder was crafted from an upcycled piece of oak mantelpiece, then hand finished before being gifted.
UIL also creates bespoke furniture and home decor when not out on refurbishment jobs, so watch for more handcrafted items available in the future!
Property Maintenance Checklist - Autumn/Winter
So what happened to summer? It seemed to fizzle out around mid July…. It's that time of year when a little maintenance goes a long way, recently we have had a lot of call-outs to repair/fix blocked or broken gutters and downpipes recently.
September 2024 - Landscaping in Lanehouse
This client found us via a word of mouth recommendation. She asked for our landscaping skills to improve an area of her garden which contained decking in a shaded corner.
How to Upcycle A Van
It's our 6th birthday, so we treated ourself to a new-to-us van. Follow our progress as we upcycle it!
The 'new-to-us' van needed a bit of TLC as well as fitting it with racking for our materials and tools, so Mark and Jason spent some time giving it some love. It needed some oil, grease and generally a good upcycling (which we are pro's at!) and created the racking ourselves.
It now is the newest team member and it certainly looks the part now it has it's new signage too!
Upcycle Interiors Ltd is 6 Years Old!
Back in 2018, Upcycle Interiors was born as a business venture of Mark and Carla Ellery. Mark, who is architecturally trained, created the business out of his lifelong love for renovating and designing, and left the big city to return to his hometown of Weymouth with his young family to grow his business.
Now, in 2024, the business has grown to a team of 4 permanent team members.
October 2024 - Handyman Services in Osmington
Our client found us when they saw one of our corex advertising boards in Upwey.
They had a long (2 pages of A4) to-do list for us of small niggles and tasks to complete following their house move.
September 2024 - Kitchen Renovation
Our client approached us during the summer after a word-of-mouth recommendation from a previous repeat customer.
She wanted a kitchen makeover with a “light touch”. We managed to completely overhaul the kitchen while she was still able to use it every day.

How to find the correct height for garden fences
It's summer and we are all rushing outside to improve our garden spaces while the sun is shining. But before we start on the aesthetics of the garden we need to make sure it is safe and secure, and sometimes that means starting with replacing the fence.
But this is where it can get confusing...
UIL's Upcycled Cordless Paint Stirrer
What do you do when you have old tools that need a new lease of life? Put them to work of course! Director Mark's grandad gave him lots of old tools when he first started Upcycle Interiors, and of course there are just some tools which he would have been unable to make good use of. That's where his upcycling skills came into play!
