We're Now VAT Registered – What This Means for You

At UIL, we’re committed to providing top-quality handyman and renovation services across Weymouth, Dorchester, and Portland. As our business continues to grow, we are pleased to announce that from 1st March 2025, we will be VAT registered.

Upcycle Interiors Limited (UIL) specialises in renovations and also provides a reliable, professional handyman service, property maintenance, general building work, carpentry, landscaping, & interior/landscape design.

Based in Weymouth, our team are trustworthy, reliable & communicative - we only take on local jobs.

Back in 2018, Upcycle Interiors was born as a business venture of Mark and Carla Ellery. Mark, who is architecturally trained, created the business out of his lifelong love for renovating and designing, and left the big city to return to his hometown of Weymouth with his young family to grow his business.

Now, in 2024, the business has grown to a team of 4 permanent team members.

In a world where being kind to the environment is becoming more and more important, there's a cool idea called upcycling that's making a big difference, especially right here in Weymouth.

Upcycling is like giving old stuff a super cool makeover instead of throwing it away. It's not just about recycling; it's about using your imagination to make something old into something awesome again!

UIL always provides free, no obligation, detailed written quotations (not estimates) and a fixed price for every job (anything verbal is put into writing).

The quote is fully transparent and shows how the price of the job is calculated (eg cost of materials and cost of labour for each phase of the job). This allows the customer to add/omit aspects of the job to meet their budget and avoids any confusion regarding what is/isn't included in the job.

Sometimes it does feel like we are living in a limbo…. So any time you can bring order to the chaos it is probably a good idea to do so! Don’t hire a fly-by-night or unprofessional trades-person, do your due diligence and you probably won't come unstuck.

When you are dealing with a proper incorporated Limited Company you, the customer will have access to certain information that other types of businesses (e.g. Sole-Trader) don’t or won't provide.

With Checkatrade reviews dating back over a year, it's about time I gave you my thoughts and opinions on it, after all, this is a blog, right? So what better place to air my views!

So what do I think? It is good! Yup, that's pretty much it, CheckaTrade is good, well actually, maybe I'm being unfair- it's excellent. And no, they're not paying me to say that. Let me explain - of all the trade directories and lead generation sites I have used CheckaTrade does the most stringent checks and is head and shoulders above the rest. If you find a company or tradesperson listed on their site then personally I believe they are professional, trustworthy and serious. I don't think you will find cowboys or "fly-by-night" types on there and the monthly fee certainly puts off the people who are just looking for a little bit of extra pocket money.
